Who Am I?
I am a young and spry woman with the following diagnoses: Major Depressive Disorder, severe, recurrent, with psychotic features; Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder); Posttraumatic Stress Disorder; Borderline Personality Disorder; and Avoidant Personality Disorder. Whew! Oh, yeah, and I'm also completely deaf and communicate via American Sign Language (and English when appropriate).
I have been in the mental health system full-time since the age of 17 and have been misdiagnosed with everything from an adjustment disorder to severe, unresponsive schizophrenia. I've had over 40 ECTs (shock treatments), been on every psychotropic medication known to man (up until the last change), and been hospitalized psychiatrically 27 times (so far....)!
I'm here now to help educate people on many issues that are near and dear to my heart. I've found that, even if people can see past my deafness, learning of my mental illness (especially Multiple Personality Disorder) seems to make people run in horror. That is why I created this site (partially, at least). I hope that you will devour each page of my site, learn something new, and then contact me and let me know your thoughts and feelings.
